Indigenous people's perception of indigenous agricultural knowledge for climate change adaptation in Khumbu, Nepal

Introduction There is a dearth of empirical work on indigenous people's perception the effectiveness agricultural knowledge and practices for climate change adaptation, especially in mountain region. Existing scholarships Nepal are concentrated verifying effects socio-economic variables adopting adaptation strategies. lack application socio-psychological model to scrutinize subjective cognitive factors influencing adaptation. Methods This study aims utilize Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) provide insights into risk efficacy practices. A randomly sampled questionnaire survey focus group discussions were conducted five villages Khumbu region Nepal. Results discussion The results indicated that peoples had observed changes seasonality, decrease snowfall frequency, an increase rainfall, posing significant threat their lives livelihood. assessment disclosed effective adapting changing climatic conditions. It was found has been evolving remains dynamic relevant even backdrop change. However, there formal recognition by government authorities. Hence, study's findings accredit significance knowledge. From viewpoint generational succession devising cost-effective strategy, it indicates dire need its incorporation local policies action plans.
